The old cathedral still retains most of its ceiling. Enough to cast deep shadows throughout, and enough to be a threat of collapse. The space that seems best for the party to rest within is dominated by a large, filthy, stained glass window. It's the only intact one in the building, and so grime encrusted that barely any light makes it through the colourful glass panels in their lead fittings. There are torches set in the window's stone frame. As soon as the warrior lights both torches, the grime falls from the glass, and it glows as if lit from behind by the rising sun. You can see runes carved into the frame now, but they aren't nearly as fascinating, and terrifying, as the breaking apart of the window. The coloured panes start to move around independently, in a swirl of glittering tendrils of light. They spin in lazy independent orbits of the central point of luminous eddies. This is clearly some kind of portal you've activated, but where does it go?
***
The conjuror reads from the crackling Scroll of Transit. The words vanishing in puffs of granular smoke as they are spoken aloud. The air shimmers before her, and as she finishes the last word, and the scroll crumbles to ash in her hands, the shimmering resolves itself into a large stone-framed stainglass window, with the colourful glass drifting randomly in separate pieces across the glowing tunnel beyond.
Portal measures 4-3/4 x 1/2 x 4-1/8".
Also available without runes.
